"Fall"ing in love

Today, while volunteering at school, I fell down the stairs.  I immediately jumped up and looked around to make sure nobody saw (because that was obviously my first priority - ahem - embarrassment *facepalm*) and only after confirming nobody had seen, then took a better look at my sore knee that I had landed on.

Somehow in life I have learned that bruising my ego is more impactful in the moment, than in my body.  At least, with little inconsequential bumps.

This got me thinking as to how so many people I know (ahem - *me*) behave this way on our yoga mat.

How many of you reading this feel like yoga in a studio is a competitive sport?  Where you try to be in the most advanced position the teacher has offered and will muscle through NO MATTER WHAT.

Maybe that's not you.  If so I offer my sincere congratulations. (Also, please email me your secret!)

But, if that person IS you.  The voice deep down inside that wants to prove that you fit in, and you are good enough, and you deserve to be here:

I'll point out a few things for your next yoga class...

You are here. (on your yoga mat, literally your body is HERE with this group of other yoga-ing people)

You deserve to be here. (you likely paid money for this, and, if not and you snuck in - maybe you should leave)

You are good enough.  Period.  You have a body, and it's here in space.

BOOM.

The next time I fall, I'm going to own that shit.  I'll pop up (like my little boy), hand in the air and yell "I'm GOOD!"  Because the next time, I'm hoping my ego is less worried about judgment from others, and more concerned with the fact that they are all there to look out for me.

The universe has your back.  Now get on your mat and own it.
